Godrej developed India’s first commercially available R290 split air conditioner in 2012 and has since expanded its hydrocarbon product roll-out.
The company’s general manager Diptendu Bhattacharya declared that the use of R290 has both environmental and economic benefits. The use of micro-channel heat exchangers brought up COP by 16.5%, lowered power consumption by 20%, and the charge size to 360g to comply with European standard EN 378.
Godrej has cooperated with UNEP and UNDP to open a production line in Maldives in an effort to promote energy efficient R290 air-conditioner units outside India.
